Distinguished Leadership Award, Arthritis Foundation, New England Chapter (2012)

Ellen Lutch Bender was honored with the Foundation’s most prestigious award recognizing her twenty years of board dedication to help the thousands of patients who suffer from this crippling disease.  Ellen served two consecutive terms as Board Chair, the first woman and non-physician to hold this position.  Among her many contributions to the Arthritis Foundation, Bender is credited with chairing their most prominent fundraising event each of fifteen years, the annual Lifetime Achievement Award Dinner, recognizing the community’s most prominent leaders.

The Arthritis Foundation and Brown Rudnick LLP Establish Ellen Lutch Bender Arthritis Research Award (2009)

Brown Rudnick, a premier international law firm, in partnership with the Arthritis Foundation, established the “Ellen Lutch Bender Arthritis Research Award” to fund innovative research dedicated to the prevention, control and cure of rheumatoid arthritis.

Ellen Lutch Bender was an original co-chair of the health care division of the United Way of Massachusetts.   Through her dedication, the health care division grew in prominence to raise funds and awareness in bringing needed social services throughout the Boston community.
